SK Tan, brain developer and educator

Where the thinking comes from

I started in technology. In the 1990s I co-founded New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Malaysia, and I kept running into the same idea: there is almost always a simpler, better way to do something.

Later, during Malaysia’s Smart School initiative, my attention moved from the technology to the people using it. One question stayed with me. Why do some people learn easily while others struggle with the same information?

Keyboarding was my first experiment. Instead of asking people to practise for hours, I looked for a way to help the brain understand the keyboard first. That became EasyType, my brain-friendly keyboarding method, later recognised at ITEX.

If typing could be simplified by changing how people learn, the same thinking could apply to memory, creativity and problem-solving. That is the work I do today.

Why work with me

Learning that’s simple, easy and yours.

I make complicated ideas Simple + Easy, so people can learn better, think better and thrive better. Here is what that rests on.

Brain first, technique second

I start with how the brain understands, not with how many hours you can practise. EasyType came from exactly this: helping the brain understand the keyboard first.

Decades of practice, not theory

My work began in technology and computer education in the 1990s and has grown through education, learning, thinking and human development.

Recognised work

EasyType, my brain-friendly keyboarding methodology, received recognition at ITEX.

Simple + Easy, by design

Simple enough to understand. Easy enough to practise and apply. If an idea can’t be made simple, I keep working on it.

Learning you actually own

I teach with a clear path: Learn → Do → Own → Thrive. Knowing is only the beginning. Doing creates experience. Owning means it has become part of you.

Independence, not dependence

My goal is not to create followers who rely on me. It’s learners who can think, apply and grow on their own.

Let’s start with a conversation.
